Heavy on green slime and packing an answer to a burning question, the first trailer for director Paul Feig’s all-female “Ghostbusters” hit the web Thursday.
At two and a half minutes, the trailer squeezes in plenty of character detail, giving fans the hard sell on this revamped cast.
The trailer also appears to answer a question fans have been asking since the project was announced: Is this a sequel or a reboot?
Two sentences that flash across the screen, intercut with images of New York City, suggest the new “Ghostbusters” characters exist in the same universe Egon, Ray, Winston and Venkman. For those hoping for an appearance by the old guard, this is welcome news.
Never miss a local story.
Starring Melissa McCarthy (Abby), Kate McKinnon (Holtzmann), Kristen Wiig (Erin) and Leslie Jones (Patty), “Ghostbusters” is set for a July 15 release in American theaters.
