Mitchelville Preservation Project, Hilton Head Island Land Trust to present talk on US Colored Troops' influence

The Mitchelville Preservation Project and the Hilton Head Island Land Trust will present a program featuring lecturer Asa Gordon, who will speak about the legacy of the U.S. Colored Troops who served in the Civil War. Many men from this unit served on Hilton Head and played an important role in protecting Mitchelville, the first self-governed freedmen's town in America.
