Park Plaza Cinema will host a special screening event for a new documentary on Gullah-Geechee culture next week.
“Through the Eyes of the Gullah Elders: Hilton Head Island Back in the Day” is at 7 p.m. Thursday, at the cinema at 33 Office Park Road, Hilton Head.
The feature-length film features Hilton Head Island Gullah elders sharing personal stories on everything from food and language customs to the construction of the bridge to the island and how it impacted their lives.
The event will include an opening reception with entertainment and a question and answer session to follow the film.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Gullah Museum of Hilton Head.
