Organizers of the Beaufort International Film Festival announced Wednesday that actress and model Andie MacDowell will receive an award at the 2015 festival.
The "Four Weddings and a Funeral" star will be presented with the Spirit & Pride of South Carolina Award, established to recognize a native South Carolinian whose career achievements have reflected positively on themselves and the state of South Carolina, according to a press release.
Best-selling author and Beaufort resident Pat Conroy will present MacDowell with the award.
MacDowell is originally from Gaffney and attended Winthrop University in Rock Hill before becoming an Elite model for Armani and Calvin Klein campaigns. In the early '90s, she starred in several iconic movies, including playing news producer Rita Hansen alongside Bill Murray in "Groundhog Day."
Her current acting roles include a municipal court judge on the drama TV series "Cedar Cove." In September, Variety reported that MacDowell will also be acting in stripper movie sequel "Magic Mike XXL," currently being filmed in Savannah.
