Bluffton and Hilton Head Island galleries are preparing for new exhibits in June.
Linda Clapp will be the featured artist Monday through July 4 at the Society of Bluffton Artists Gallery. Her show, "Color and Space," is a collection of oil and acrylic paintings.
And the "Mark Maute: Me and My Friends" exhibit will open Tuesday at the Art League of Hilton Head Island. In addition to painting, sculpture and collage/construction by Maute, the exhibit includes artwork by three of his friends, Robin Walton, Diana Nadanyl and Stephanie Woods.
Never miss a local story.
Mark Maute left teaching art in 1977 and threw away his art supplies and equipment. Thirty-five years later, he moved to Hilton Head full-time and took his first art class at the Academy of Art League of Hilton Head. Along the way, Maute worked with Walton, Nadanyl and Woods, who all share a commitment to color and design.
