Candice Glover will not be performing in the city of Beaufort on Sept. 14 after all, but she will be appearing in southern Beaufort County that week.
The Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce announced Thursday that its plans for a Sept. 14 concert date for the "American Idol" winner have been scuttled because Glover is performing Sept. 12 at the Tanger Outlets in greater Bluffton.
Tanger Outlet general manager LaDonna Shamlou confirmed the St. Helena Island native's concert will be part of Pink Magazine's Pink Partini. Glover confirmed her appearance in an email Thursday.
Shamlou said the concert at Tanger Outlets has been in the works for months. Details are set, but Shamlou said she is waiting for 19 Entertainment, Glover's management company, to approve the news release making the official announcement. Details could be released as soon as today.
Beaufort chamber spokeswoman Jaime Dailey said Thursday that the chamber had been working with Glover's mother, Carole, to schedule a concert in Beaufort and that they will try to plan something for later in the fall.
Carole Glover confirmed Thursday that she has been working with the chamber to schedule an appearance. She added that she will continue to work with the chamber on an event for her daughter.
After The Beaufort Gazette and The Island Packet reported Wednesday that the chamber had set a date for a concert, Candice Glover retweeted news of the event.
"I know I retweeted that tweet, but that was before I knew that it conflicted with the other concert at the outlet," Glover said in an email Thursday.
Glover is currently on the IDOL Live! summer tour with the other "Idol" finalists. The tour will be in North Charleston at the North Charleston Coliseum on Aug. 5.
