Plans to hold watch parties in Beaufort for Candice Glover's final two nights on American Idol this week are in place, according to Mayor Billy Keyserling.
USC Beaufort's Performing Arts Center will host a viewing party Wednesday for the show, which airs at 8 p.m. on Fox, Keyserling said Saturday.
The city will make a decision on holding a Thursday viewing party for the two-hour season finale at either the Highway 21 Drive In or at the Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park by Monday, Keyserling said. The finale airs from 8-10 p.m. on Fox.
The drive in hosted a watch party last Wednesday for the episode that featured clips of Glover's return to Beaufort on May 4. Keyserling said the city is waiting for a cost estimate for a projector that would be used at Waterfront Park before making a decision.
Because of limited space at the arts center, tickets are required for Wednesday's watch party. Tickets are free and can be picked up at the chamber of commerce at 1106 Carteret St. or the arts center at 801 Carteret St.
St. Helena Island native Glover and Woodville, Texas, native Kree Harrison are the show's final contestants. On Thursday, one of the two will be crowned the 12th "American Idol."
More information about the viewing parties will be posted on the mayor's and chamber of commerce's Facebook pages on Monday. Those sites are:
