Candice Glover doesn’t want to seem like a crazed fan.
Yes, she is an unapologetic fan of Drake and dreams of someday working with the R&B rapper. When asked in an interview Tuesday if she's ever had a crush on the chart-topping recording artist, the St. Helena Island native replied with a definitive, "definitely."
But that's not the reason she’s choosen to sing his song "Find Your Love," in the Top 4 on "American Idol" on Wednesday night.
"I look up to him first and foremost for his artistry," Glover said. "And then it just happens to be a plus that he's attractive."
Glover chose Drake's song for her second performance Wednesday, which is "contestants' choice." The theme for the first song will be "one-hit wonders."
From the beginning of this season, when Glover decided to audition for the show a third time, she said she was there to do her thing and show America what kind of artist she is.
In previous weeks, contestants selected songs based on a theme. When it came time to pick for herself, the decision became more difficult.
"We always have those moments when we're like, 'Oh my gosh, I wish they would just let us do whatever we want to do,'" Glover said. "When we finally got the chance, it took me forever to pick a song. When you do contestants' choice, it's actually harder because there's so many things that you want to ... showcase your voice."
Glover met Drake in February, and he started following her on Twitter in March. This week, they talked on Twitter about her song choice. She asked him if he could watch.
"Having him watch the show tomorrow is a lot of pressure but I'm trying to get better so I can do the song justice," said Glover, who is battling a cold. "I just hope he likes it."
