Candice Glover believes she can win "American Idol."
The show's judges said the St. Helena Island native owned the Rolling Stones "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction," on Wednesday night during the Top 7 show.
On Thursday night's results show, Glover moved to the Top 6. Contestant Burnell Taylor was sent home.
She has received more standing ovations than any other contestant this season. The only criticism from the judges came last week when Nicki Minaj told her to show more attitude in her face.
As far as the judges are concerned, Glover's vocals have never been less than perfect.
Glover is becoming more comfortable with that sort of praise and with the show itself.
"I actually do feel like I do belong here and that I could win," Glover said in a phone interview this week.
Still, that newfound faith doesn't silence her greatest fear -- one she's likely shared with every other contestant since 'Idol" began.
"My biggest fear is not giving my all and not being 100 percent like I know I can," she said.
While Glover has the confidence to sing on a national platform, the belief that she belongs there and the confidence she can win, she's cautious of what fame can do.
"I don't want it to change me," she said. "People can get into their own head and think 'it's me or nothing.' I never want to get that way."
Glover keeps in mind what last week's mentor, Smokey Robinson, told contestants:
"There's always someone out there that's going to be better than you," he said. "You don't ever have the right to think you're better than anyone or that you've won anything."
It's advice Glover takes to heart.
"I always keep God first and remember that I'm here for a reason, and that's for music," she said. "Music is my thing, and I never want to get that big head thinking, 'Oh, I'm it.'
"I never want to do that."
Glover will perform again Wednesday. The show airs from 8-10 p.m. on Fox.
