'The Lion in Winter' roaring at Sun City theater
The Sun City Community Theatre will present the drama -- starring Bob Drojarski, Bob McCloskey, Carol Wroblewski and Lew Apgar -- at 7:30 p.m. Thursday to Sunday and 2 p.m. Saturday at Magnolia Hall in Sun City Hilton Head.
A 1968 film version of "The Lion in Winter" starred Peter O'Toole and Katharine Hepburn; it was spawned from a Broadway production, which according to Broadway reviews at the time, was considered a "sophisticated drama with its blending of fact."
The movie was nominated for seven Academy Awards.The play, written by James Goldman has been replicated thousands of times across the United States and Europe. The Sun City production will be directed by Carl Nusbaum.
Tickets are $18-$20 and can be purchased at the box office in Magnolia Hall. During the week of the show, tickets can be purchased from 9 to 11 a.m. Mondays through Saturdays, and 30 minutes prior to each performance.
