A GILDED LILY

3 cartons cherry tomatoes

1 cup Hellman's mayonnaise

1 teaspoon curry powder

Salt and Pepper to taste

Place tomatoes in a 2 quart baking dish and bake in a 350 degree oven for about 25-30 minutes. Mix mayo and curry powder together with salt and pepper to taste. Spread mayo mixture over roasted tomatoes and broil for 3 minutes or so.

Heavens to Betsy! My sister and I received some marvelous news last week: We won second place at the South Carolina State Fair for our coconut cake. Lynn King gave us the recipe, which had three layers and was -- believe me -- literally covered in coconut. The cake that won first place was caramel. The fair does good work, too: The judges cut the cakes in half; one part is judged, the other is given to food banks and homeless shelters. I'm still on the path to win a first place ribbon, though -- so we have a year to decide on what to bake.
