The Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra will present a performance of "Peter and the Wolf," for children of all ages, at 2 p.m. Sundayat the Hilton Head Island High School Visual and Performing Arts Center.

This performance features the Hilton Head Dance Theatre directed by John and Karena Brock-Carlyle. Children also will be entertained by an instrument petting zoo on the stage and well-known personality Joe Hoffman will narrate.

This concert is the culmination of the previous four months of "Meet the Orchestra" events where children in both the Bluffton and Hilton Head Island community were introduced to the different sections of the orchestra -- woodwinds, percussion, brass and strings -- with actors performing the roles of the Bird, the Cat, the Duck, the Grandfather, the Hunters, the Wolf, and Peter.

The Education Outreach Program of the orchestra has been sponsoring the informational and educational program for the past few years. Members of the orchestra perform at the monthly events and help entice youngsters to listen and understand the different sounds of an orchestra, and how the individual instruments play a role in the overall music the orchestra produces.

Tickets may be purchased at the door. For more information, call 843-842-2055 or visit www.hhso.org.
