No suspects identified in 3 recent bank robberies

The culprits in three bank robberies within the past month in Beaufort County remain at large, including the suspect in a Monday heist in Bluffton.

Sgt. Robin McIntosh of the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday that having no vehicle descriptions in any of the cases has made it difficult to find the suspects.

In Monday's robbery of a TD Bank in Bluffton and in the July 1 robbery of Atlantic Community Bank on Hilton Head Island, the suspects ran. In the June 24 robbery of Regions Bank on Lady's Island, the robber fled on a bicycle.

McIntosh said it is likely the suspects had getaway vehicles nearby that witnesses did not see, and the lack of descriptions of those vehicles made initial search efforts difficult.

There is no indication the robberies are related, she said, since the crimes did not share any common features or methods.

The suspect in Monday's robbery in Bluffton was described as a white male, about 5-foot-7, 175 pounds, with brown hair and a goatee. He was wearing a long-sleeved, dark blue, plaid button-up shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers, a blue baseball cap and sunglasses.

Two men held up the Atlantic Community Bank on the south end of Hilton Head on July 1. They were described as black males, one wearing a white golf shirt with gray stripes and a black hat, and the other a black shirt and jeans, with his head covered by a pillowcase.

On June 24, a man wearing a red dress, a black hat, a wig and purple glitter lipstick robbed the Regions Bank on Lady's Island before pedaling away on a bicycle, according to the Sheriff's Office.
