Thousands left in dark following thunderstorms across Beaufort County

A detail from an SCE&G power outage map shows a large number of customers without power in Beaufort County around 6 p.m., the result of severe thunderstorms moving through the area.


More than 10,300 Beaufort County residents experienced power outages during thunderstorms Tuesday evening, according to SCE&G.

Many traffic lights in Beaufort were without power, according to Lady's Island-St. Helena Fire District spokesman Scott Harris. However, no weather related incidents were reported as of 5:50 p.m.

Randy Hunter, Bluffton Fire District spokesman, also reported no weather related incidents.
