Do away with VA and all of its problems

newsroom@islandpacket.comJuly 10, 2014

I believe there is a relatively straight forward way to solve the VA medical dilemma -- just do away with the VA. Close it down completely.

Shift all budget and current appropriations to the Medicare fund. Make all service retirees or discharged personnel eligible for Medicare A, B and D with the same conditions of co-pay as current recipients of Medicare services.

It is obvious that the administrative branch of our government has done a very poor job of managing this service. The country does not need a continuing mismanaged government program. Rather than trying to upgrade/make acceptable the current program with additional funds and administrative oversight, just fold the veterans support funding into the existing Medicare program and establish eligibility.
