Hilton Head Island High's Clark, Mlodzinski selected for Palmetto Games

Two Hilton Head Island High School baseball players have been selected to participate in an invite-only showcase event for some of South Carolina's top high school players.

Rising junior Mat Clark and sophomore Carmen Mlodzinski, both pitchers, will be attending. Mlodzinski also plays shortstop for the Seahawks and coach Blair Carson.

For Clark, an all-state left-hander, the Palmetto Games is another honor to add to an offseason filled with them. Clark was also the Island Packet and Beaufort Gazette's Player of the Year for 2014.

"This is a big honor because this puts them in the spotlight for a lot of college and pro scouts who attend this two day showcase," Carson said in an e-mail.

The Palmetto Games are scheduled for Aug. 9 and 10 and hosted by the University of South Carolina and Diamond Prospects. More than 100 future MLB draftees have previously attended the event, which includes sophomores, juniors and seniors.
