A Beaufort man allegedly robbed another man of $5 at gunpoint on June 30, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office arrest warrant affidavit.

Rick Tracy Mitchell Jr., was arrested Tuesday and charged with armed robbery and possession of a firearm while committing a violent crime.

The victim was able to identify the defendant from a photo array, the affidavit said, and told deputies that Mitchell had been armed with a semi-automatic pistol.

When interviewed at his residence, Mitchell admitted to the robbery but denied a weapon was involved, the affidavit said. Deputies recovered a pistol matching the victim's description of the firearm used in the robbery, the affidavit said.

Mitchell was released from the Beaufort County Detention Center on $25,000 bond.
