It's home cooks vs. local chefs at 2nd annual Downtown Plate Crawl

newsroom@islandpacket.comJuly 8, 2014

Is your fried chicken the best in the world? Or maybe your collard greens receive rave reviews every time you make them.

At Main Street Beaufort's second Downtown Plate Crawl, home cooks can see how their signature dishes stack up against those made by local chefs. The chefs receive a list of dish submissions and select one they would like to challenge. At the event on Aug. 16, tasting stations will be set up throughout downtown, and the public can purchase wristbands to blind taste each dish and vote for their favorite.

At last year's Plate Crawl, home cooks beat local chefs in five out of eight dishes.

Beaufort cooks who are interested in competing should contact Main Street Beaufort, USA, for submission forms and details. Submission is due July 11.

Main Street Beaufort can be contacted at 843-525-6644 or info@downtownbeaufort.com.
