A 38-year-old Seabrook man wanted for sexual assault committed suicide Thursday in Barnwell, a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office spokesman said.

A warrant was issued June 27 for the arrest of Michael Andrew Walker, who was wanted on one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and one count of unlawful neglect of a child, according to Capt. Robert Bromage.

Bromage said additional information about Walker's suicide as not immediately available. Attempts to reach the Barnwell County Sheriff's Office for comment Friday were unsuccessful.

Walker had been wanted in connection with a sexual abuse incident that took place near Wimbee Creek, according to an earlier Sheriff's Office news release.
