Beaufort stayed alive Wednesday in the Dixie Boys District 8 tournament at Burton Wells Park with a 4-3 victory over Moncks Corner.

The Beaufort All-Stars will play Hilton Head on Thursday at 7 p.m. The Hilton Head All-Stars remained unbeaten with a 5-3 victory over Summerville.

Summerville will play Bluffton at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Beaufort needs a win Thursday to advance to what would be a semifinal game Monday.

"It will take error-free baseball, for sure," Beaufort coach Gene Robertson said. "They are a very good baseball team."

Terry Holmes' bases-loaded hit and a Moncks Corner error scored three in the fourth inning for Beaufort. Aaron Peterson started for Beaufort and threw 96 pitches before being relieved by Devin Singleton with two outs in the sixth. Singleton needed only 10 pitches to record the final four outs.

Singleton was 2 for 4 at the plate. Will Kelly and Peterson also had hits for Beaufort.

"Pretty tough defensive game," Robertson said. "Not a whole lot of sticks on either side."
