Malcolm Anthony Moore

A Lady's Island man was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a stolen gun after a fight with his girlfriend Tuesday, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office report.

Malcolm Anthony Moore, 21, is accused of choking his live-in girlfriend, who then grabbed his gun to "scare him off." The gun accidentally fired, according to Sgt. Robin McIntosh. No one was injured.

While being transported to the Beaufort County Detention Center, Moore said he was a "free man," knew his constitutional rights, and that his "people" were here before Columbus arrived in 1492, the report said.

Moore is being held at the Beaufort County Detention Center with bail set at $35,242.
