A Georgia man remains hospitalized after suffering a fractured skull at a Hilton Head Island bar early Sunday, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies have been unable to interview the 22-year-old victim, who was knocked unconscious when he was thrown from One Hot Mama's on Greenwood Drive and his head struck a concrete planter, Sgt. Robin McIntosh said Tuesday afternoon.

The man initially told deputies he did not want to press charges against the bouncer who caused the injury, but his request was not met because he was intoxicated and suffering from a head wound.

The bouncer was charged with second-degree assault and battery and posted $10,000 bond Sunday.

He had kicked the victim out of the bar about 2 a.m., and several times stopped him from returning, first by pushing the man and then grabbing him under the arms and throwing him away from the bar, according to a report on the incident.

The victim, whose head was bleeding after the incident, is being treated at the Medical University of South Carolina, according to a report on the incident.
