The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is searching for a gold-colored car involved in a hit-and-run Monday on Hilton Head Island.

A 27-year-old Daufuskie Island man was walking along Palmetto Bay Road toward the Haig Point embarkation at about 3:10 p.m. when he was struck by an older model Honda, or possibly an Acura, a report said. The victim was knocked to the ground and watched as the vehicle turned onto Dunnagans Alley and drove away, according to the report.

The victim declined treatment from EMTs.
