The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating an armed robbery that occurred Monday at a Lady's Island apartment complex.

A man had just gotten into his car in the parking lot of Waterford Cove at about 8:30 p.m. when another man approached and lifted his shirt to reveal a black semiautomatic pistol, a report said.

The suspect asked whether the victim had any drugs, but the man told him he did not and was only carrying $5, according to the report. He handed over the money, and the suspect ran. He was described as a black man, 6 feet tall, 16 to 17 years old, wearing a white shirt, turquoise skinny jeans and a hat.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 888-CRIME-SC.
