Community is reason my school is great

newsroom@islandpacket.comJuly 1, 2014

The halls of Whale Branch Early College High School are fairly quiet these days except for students who are attending summer school and youth basketball camp and the custodial staff who are busily cleaning the school for the upcoming school year.

Reflecting on the school year, I must say that it was an overwhelming success for numerous reasons. In particular, it was successful because of the steadfast support we received from our parents, local community leaders and committed business partners. That includes business owner Frank Gibson. Gibson has supported the school since the 2012-13 school year. He has been a guest speaker, attended athletic events, written reference letters for students who applied to The Citadel and much more.

We would like to say thank you to all who supported the school this past school year. Your investment in our students has and will continue to produce great dividends in our community, state and the world.
