A 58-year-old Beaufort woman was charged with public disorderly conduct after she was found drunk in a wooded area in Burton, according to a report from the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were called to Glaze Drive at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday after residents reported seeing a woman in the woods making grunting noises. The woman told the deputy who answered the call that she was coming from a party and that she was going to sleep for the night in the spot where she sat, the report said.

The woman was heavily intoxicated, the report said. When the deputy asked if she had someone who could come pick her up, she told him she was "sleeping on the ground tonight," according to the report.

The deputy asked the woman her name, but she responded, "You know who I am," although the deputy had never dealt with her before.

The woman was charged with public disorderly conduct and taken to the Beaufort County Detention Center, where she is being held in lieu of $262.50 bail, according to the jail log.
