Deputies learned Juan Marquis Clarke was distributing drugs from Quality Inn & Suites on Museum Street, the release said. After several controlled drug purchases, deputies searched Clarke's room at about 5 p.m. and seized 3.5 grams of heroin, four grams of marijuana, two units of Xanax, and multiple prescription pills, according to the release.

Clarke was charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin, and another count for intent to distribute within half a mile of a school, according to court records. He also was charged with possession of marijuana and two counts of possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance.

Deputies also served two warrants for possession of cocaine and crack cocaine, the release said.
