The Bluffton Township Fire District recently gave a certificate of appreciation to a local towing company for its assistance in clearing a wreck June 5.

At the intersection of U.S. 278 and Buck Island Road, a large Mack truck overturned on an SUV. To safely work on extracting the SUV driver and a passenger who was killed in the wreck, the district and Beaufort County EMS requested help from Tommy's Towing, according to a news release.

The company responded "without hesitation" and used its equipment to stabilize and tow the truck, the release said.
