LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC — Interim Lexington County Sheriff Lewis McCarty promoted four deputies Wednesday in the wake of his firing four top deputies last week following the indictment of long-serving Lexington County Sheriff James Metts.
McCarty promoted Adam Creech, 29, of Irmo, to the major crimes division as an Investigator. Creech was a master deputy and served as a supervisor to the West Region Patrol District based in Gilbert. McCarty also promoted Thomas Fine, 47, of Lexington, and Cameron Sherban, 27, of Lexington, to serve in the Gilbert-based patrol district as master deputies.
Fine previously served as a field training officer in the West Region Patrol District, while Sherban served as a field training officer on a road patrol shift.
McCarty’s fourth promotion was Samuel Smith, 29, of Columbia, to serve as a master deputy in the South Region Patrol District, based in Pelion. Smith previously worked as a field training officer in that same region.
