This man is a suspect in the robbery of a Lady's Island bank, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

At least he dressed for the occasion.

A man wearing a red dress, a black hat, a wig and purple glitter lipstick robbed a Lady's Island bank Tuesday afternoon before pedaling away on a bicycle, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office news release.

The fashionably dressed suspect came into the Regions Bank at 146 Sea Island Parkway about 1:30 p.m. and demanded money from a teller. Wardrobe aside, the suspect was described as a black male with a thin build who was about 6 feet tall, the release said. No word on whether that was with or without heels.

The suspect, who arrived carrying a large bag, stole an undisclosed amount of cash before riding away on the two-wheeler, the release said.

While he did not brandish a weapon, he is still considered potentially armed and dangerous, the release said. The Sheriff's Office declined to release further information.

Search efforts continued into the evening, and the suspect had not been located as of 6:45 p.m. The Sheriff's Office said it would continue the search.

Traffic near the bank -- on Meridian Road, U.S. 21 and S.C. 802 -- was slowed for about an hour as the initial search began.

The bank remained closed for the rest of the day. Information on when it would reopen was not available.
