Plastics make homes for some fish, sea life

Regarding the newspaper's June 17 editorial about plastic in the ocean, I have sailed the Pacific Ocean many times and found a great deal of plastic, wood and metal objects floating in the ocean. Most of it has been there for years.

I have found that every article of flotsam has a colony of sea life that would not have developed had it not been for the floating object. The large areas of trash have vast colonies of fish of all species lurking below.
