Hilton Head car wash robbed Saturday

About $3,600 was stolen from a Hilton Head Island car wash Saturday night and about $9,000 worth of damage was inflicted during the burglary, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office report.

An employee of Port Royal Car Wash at 95 Mathews Drive arrived at work at about 8 a.m. Sunday to find the money exchanger and automated car wash machine broken into and the money boxes empty, the report said.

The car wash's manager reported $3,600 stolen from the money boxes and $8,900 in damage to the machines. No suspects have been identified.
