A Burton man fatally shot himself Wednesday night after wounding his father, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

Driscoll Ramsey, 51, shot himself on his front porch at 1720 Jasperstone Circle, the Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

His father, 72-year-old Ralph Ramsey, said he was on the porch when his son came out of the house with a gun, threatening to kill him, the release said. His son shot him in the arm when he attempted to defend himself, according to the report.

Ralph Ramsey crawled into the home to call 911, the release said. Inside, he heard a second gunshot.

Ralph Ramsey was transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital. His condition is unknown.

An autopsy will be performed on Driscoll Ramsey, the release said.
