Severe thunderstorm warning issued for Beaufort, Jasper counties

The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Beaufort and Jasper counties.

Residents should prepare for damaging winds in excess of 60 mph, with hail up to the size of a quarter, according to the warning, which expires at 5 p.m.

Severe thunderstorms were detected along a line extending from Florence to 9 miles south of Hardeeville, moving northeast at 20 mph.

Report downed trees, limbs and power lines directly to the Charleston National Weather Service at 1-888-383-2024 when it is safe to so.
