A driver has been cited in a three-vehicle accident Friday in Bluffton that left two people hospitalized, according to a police report.

Kelley Cochran, 43, and Joe Cochran, 39, were taken to Coastal Carolina Hospital after their blue 2004 Nissan was struck from behind while stopped for traffic at the highway's intersection with Bluffton Parkway, according to a Bluffton Police Department report.

Reached Monday, Joe Cochran said he and his wife are recovering from the accident.

Their vehicle was struck shortly after 5:30 p.m. by a 2006 Pontiac traveling about 40 mph. The Nissan was pushed forward into a 2009 Acura that also was stopped, the report said.

The driver of the Pontiac, 24-year-old Jessica Warner of Bluffton, told police she briefly looked away from the road to get her glasses. She was cited for driving too fast for conditions, the report said.

The Nissan had significant front- and rear-end damage, and the Pontiac had major front-end damage, according to the report. The Acura had minor damage, and its occupants declined treatment, the report said.
