Bluffton hopes to propose housing initiative in July

Bluffton's Affordable Housing Committee expects to propose a new housing initiative to Town Council in July that will offer modular homes to residents.

The modular homes could be bought to replace mobile homes or go on vacant property, according to Shawn Leininger, the town's assistant director of growth management. The committee also hopes to offer financial assistance for residents to buy the modular homes, with the help of partner organizations and other funding sources, chairman Fred Hamilton said during Tuesday's meeting.

The committee reviewed designs and specifications for the 22 homes expected to be available.
