For 40 years, the Literacy Volunteers of the Lowcountry helped thousands of adults develop the literacy skills they need to be successful. Today, that vital mission continues, as strong as ever, but with a new name -- The Literacy Center.
With a grant from the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry, we hired a local firm to assess how we might better communicate our mission and services to prospective students, volunteers and donors. The result was a new logo, name and tag line.
Our new name communicates clearly who we are, and our new tag line expresses what we are about: Empowering Adults. Enriching the Community.

Last year, we served more than 600 adults from Beaufort and Jasper counties and from 36 countries. With more than 130 trained volunteers, and the generous support of donors throughout the Lowcountry, The Literacy Center will continue to literally change lives.
