FCA, NSCAA HOSTING SOCCER COACHING SYMPOSIUM

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America have are partnering to offer a Christian-oriented soccer coaching symposium June 20-22 on Hilton Head Island, SC.

The symposium will offer high-level soccer coaching instruction aimed at college and high school coaches and will be led by Ralph Polson, past-president of NSCAA and current men's coach at Wofford College in Spartanburg.

The FCA will present Dr. Jeff Duke, the foremost leader in coaching while using Christian principles and developer of the popular 3 Dimensional Coaching Series. The residential, weekend symposium will be held at USC Beaufort's Gateway Campus.

The cost is $130 and includes housing, three meals, a Special Topics Diploma and a six-month membership to NSCAA.

FCA WEEK OF CHAMPIONS BANQUET TICKETS ON SALE

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is hosting the 36th annual FCA Week of Champions Sports Banquet at 6 p.m. June 11 at the Marriott Resort on Hilton Head Island.

This year's speaker is Chris Reis. Reis played for the New Orleans Saints when they beat Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts 31-17 in Super Bowl XLIV in February 2010.

Advance reservations are required. Tables of 10 are $350 and individual seats are $35 each. All proceeds help support Beaufort, Hampton and Jasper County FCA.

BEAUFORT SPORTSFISHING & DIVING CLUB

The Beaufort Sportfishing & Diving Club's June meeting will be held June 12 at the Beaufort Yacht and Sailing Club on Lady's Island, off Meridian Road.

The social begins at 6:30 p.m. followed by the meeting at 7 p.m. Well-known, local Captain Wes Chesnutt of Southern Spots Fishing Charters will lead a discussion on summertime fishing for flounder, redfish, and trout. He will display rods and reels and some of his favorite lures, including live baits. You do not need a reservation and guests are always welcome.
