Members of the Hilton Head Area Home Builders Association came together May 15 at its monthly luncheon for the organization’s annual presentation of its scholarship awards.  This year marks the 22nd year the Association has awarded scholarships to local graduating seniors.  Five college-bound students from high schools throughout southern Beaufort County each received a $2,000 scholarship for their academic performance, demonstrated leadership, financial need, and commitment to community.

The Hilton Head Home Builders Education Foundation raises scholarship funds each year through contributions made by Association members, as well as others in the community.  In 2013 the foundation surpassed its annual fundraising goal, allowing it to increase the amount given to each of its award recipients from $1,500 to $2,000.

The awards luncheon, led by foundation chairman Denny Fraser, welcomed a special surprise. Awards recipient Adam Eudy prepared and served the lunch entree.  Adam  plans to attend the Culinary Institute of America after graduation.  Fraser, in his presentation of the awards, touched on alternate educational paths and the importance of exploring and embracing the things that not only bring joy to one’s life, but that touch the lives of others.

“This year’s scholarship recipients are each remarkable, and, will no doubt, go on to do remarkable things in their lifetime,” Fraser said. “We are grateful to the many within our industry, who even in tough times, have selflessly given to help lead these extraordinary recipients to their future endeavors.”
