A Bluffton man has been cited with failure to yield the right of way in a wreck last month that killed a Bluffton motorcyclist, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.

A Highway Patrol report completed Wednesday indicated Travis Barnwell, born in 1990, was traveling east on Bluffton Parkway at about 8:45 p.m. April 28 when he tried to turn left onto Goethe Road. Barnwell's Acura struck Joel Yates, 53, who was riding a Yamaha motorcycle west on the parkway, the report said. Yates, who was not wearing a helmet, died at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, according to the Highway Patrol.

He did not contribute to the accident, the report said.
