Beaufort man accused of robbing restaurant of $4, then store

A Beaufort man turned himself in after robbing a pizza restaurant and Walmart on Tuesday, according to a Beaufort Police Department news release.

Jermal Garriett, 39, was charged with strong arm robbery, burglary and possession of burglary tools.

Garriett broke into Little Caesars Pizza Restaurant on Robert Smalls Parkway at about 3:39 a.m. Tuesday, the release said. He stole about $4, according to police spokeswoman Hope Able.

Officers responded to a strong arm robbery at Walmart on Robert Smalls Parkway at about 4:25 a.m. There, Garriett pushed a cashier away from her register, forced the cash drawer open and fled with an unknown amount of cash, the release said.

Garriett turned himself in about 11:45 a.m. and was being held at the Beaufort County Detention Center, with bond not yet set, according to the jail log.
