Commission to prioritize capital projects

newsroom@islandpacket.comMay 27, 2014

The Beaufort County Capital Project Sales Tax Commission will host its last two meetings to prioritize capital projects to include in a 1 percent sales tax that's being considered as a possible referendum in the November general election.

The group will meet at 12:30 p.m. Thursday in the Building 3 conference room at 102 Industrial Village Road in Beaufort and again at 1 p.m. June 4 in the executive conference room of the county administration building at 100 Ribaut Road in Beaufort.

The commission will whittle down what projects to include and forward ballot language for the referendum to County Council for approval and potential inclusion on this year's ballots. Area groups have asked for as much as $375 million in taxpayer money for an array of projects.
