Hearing set for proposed Hilton Head zoning changes

newsroom@islandpacket.comMay 27, 2014

The Town of Hilton Head Island has proposed new zoning districts and scheduled a public hearing at 9 a.m. June 4 at Town Hall to discuss them.

The town also has an online tool to help people determine whether the plan will affect their properties. Users can enter an address or parcel number and a map pops up, along with a description of the proposed zoning change, if applicable.

The changes are being made to "create flexibility for redevelopment while still maintaining the values and characteristics of Hilton Head Island," according to a town news release. Some of the proposed changes affect buffers, trees and allowed uses.
