Andy Patrick doesn't deserve naming honor

newsroom@islandpacket.comMay 24, 2014

I find it hard to believe and even harder to accept that the S.C. House of Representatives would vote to name an intersection after Rep. Andy Patrick. He has only served two terms, and I am hard pressed to come up with any accomplishment that merits this special consideration. It looks like a couple of his friends in our county delegation want to help overcome the recent bad publicity in his personal life.

By comparison, Sen. Tom Davis has made major accomplishments in his time representing us. Thanks to Davis for taking the leadership in the CBD oil legislation, and all that he has accomplished in getting increased school EFA money for Beaufort County.

Furthermore, I agree with Davis that we shouldn't consider naming things after people elected to serve the public.
