Beaufort County YMCA needs volunteers for youth boating program

The YMCA of Beaufort County is seeking volunteers to assist with a new youth and teen boating program that is set to launch this summer.

The program is a partnership between the YMCA and the Spirit of America Foundation, a national youth boating education program. Participants will be introduced to several different types and sizes of watercraft and water-based activities, learning responsible behavior and water safety.

Volunteers are needed with experience and availability in one or more of the following areas: sailing, kayak, canoe, stand up paddleboard and Zodiac motor boat. Volunteers should be available between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on selected days and have experience or willingness to teach seventh- through 10th-grade students in one of those area both in the classroom and on water. CPR or first aid experience is desired.
