Timothy J. Runyan, co-author of "The Search for Planter," describes efforts to find the ship -- famously commandeered by Beaufort resident Robert Smalls during the Civil War -- which was later lost in the waters off Cape Romaine, northeast of Charleston. Runyon was part of a team of researchers with the National Marine Sanctuary Program that may have located objects from the wreck. Runyon and other members of the team presented their findings at a press conference May 13, 2014, at the Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge in Awendaw.
