'Porn' was in the eyes of all Senate beholders

newsroom@islandpacket.comMay 12, 2014

During debate on the state Senate floor last week, the issue came down to "using state dollars to purchase pornography."

It should be noted that during the debate, senators were provided with pages copied from the book in question, which had been used at the College of Charleston and USC-Upstate. Since these copies were not likely made on a senator's dime, but likely made on a state copy machine, I believe we do indeed have a case of "using state dollars to purchase pornography."

Worse, the clerk was asked to give a copy to each senator, making him clearly guilty of pornography distribution -- but he can say it was forced on him.

This should be an important issue at the ballot box. Can we elect senators who spend a day discussing porn, while carefully studying the porn itself?
