A Hilton Head Island man remains hospitalized a week after his motorcycle struck a car on William Hilton Parkway, according to hospital staff and the S.C. Highway Patrol.

Jesse Thomas, 25, was in good condition Wednesday at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, where he and passenger Rachel Goodwin, 22, were airlifted after their Kawasaki motorcycle wrecked April 29, according to Senior Trooper Hannah Wimberly.

The motorcycle was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed about 9 p.m. when it struck a 2006 Infiniti driven by Barbara Blount, 60, of Atlanta.

Thomas and Goodwin -- who has been released from the hospital -- were not wearing helmets, Wimberly said.

Blount and passenger Tony Bell, 64, were wearing seat belts and were not injured in the wreck, according to Wimberly.

Thomas was cited for reckless driving and a driver's license violation, she said.
