A staff illustration of curb vandalism reported on Hilton Head Island.

A vandal left a mark on a Hilton Head Island curb overnight Friday, engraving the word "swag" into the recently poured concrete, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office report.

The suspect also left a footprint in the Hickory Lane curb, causing a total of about $3,700 in damage, the report said.

A construction worker discovered the defaced concrete Saturday morning.

Deputies are investigating the incident.
