SC gets a black eye over litter, other failures

newsroom@islandpacket.comMay 2, 2014

I recently read that, according to the 2014 American State Litter Scorecard, South Carolina was named "the dirtiest state in the nation" in terms of litter and recycling (or lack thereof).

That's another goose feather in the cap of our Gov. Nikki Haley, the darling of the tea party, and her retrogressive subordinates in the Statehouse.

This is another low point for South Carolina -- as if the refusal of federal money for schools and Medicaid expansion weren't enough. Our current state representatives and senators are seemingly bent upon steering us back into the 19th century while the schools, roads and other infrastructure sink to new lows.

Let's hear it for the gang in Columbia, as they turn our state into the whoopee cushion of the USA.

When the roads become impassable with potholes, we can always start riding mules to and from work.
